Monitor Switch CS-102

manufacturer: Aten

I came accross this monitor switch while giving a lecture at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. I thought it was an automatic switch because it doesn't seem to have any buttons. It's set up so people can attach their laptop to the system and use the projector when they don't want to use the desktop computer that is permanently installed. So I attached my laptop and nothing happened. I tried the "search for external monitor" key on my laptop, turned the projector off and on. Turned the desktop PC on. Nothing happened. Pretty frustrating when the room is filling with students. In the end I had to get somebody to help me out. The guy said "ah, just push the button on top of the switch!". "Button?" I asked, "I don't see a button!". "It's the transparant area, just push it", he replied. And yes that worked.I rest my case. Grrrrr.
